Given the views of the hills, the fir trees dotted around, the sprinklings of pear blossom and the forthcoming rose blooms, one understands why Miaofeng was deemed a worthy home for goddesses. Venerated by Taoists as the spiritual abode of several divinities, Miaofeng was home to several temples by the Ming dynasty and became the object of an annual pilgrimage, in the fourth lunar month, by believers from all over northern China. The festival, held annually from April 1-14, is a widely advertised event that draws artists, soothsayers, craftsmen and merchants from far and wide - not to mention tourists.
Bus: Take 929 Zhixian from Pingguoyuan to Miaofeng.
Car: From Dinghui Qiao on West Fourth Ring Road, take Fushi Lu heading west. At the Shuangyu Roundabout, turn onto 109 National Road. At Tanli Exit head north and follow the signs to Miaofeng. Approx distance: 55km
