Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt
« His performance is spellbinding, fine and radiant » (Arnaud Drillon, from the magazine Classica)
Rewarded by the musical critics, chosen by Frédéric Lodéon for his radio program « Carrefour de Lodéon », Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt’s recording released on the label Passavant in 2009, has proven itself as a must have of the Franz Liszt rare works for piano. Les Apparitions, Le Klavierstück or the Impromptu, burned on the first CD, show the pianist interests to these composer’s works that we almost never hear…
A new CD, recorded in 2011, this time dedicated to the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Sonates and various works for piano, pays tribute to the one who placed his formative genius to the piano. This CD is composed of an eclectic array of work whom the whole richness of this music is represented and highlighted by the modern piano.
Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt has studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, in the classes of Bruno Rigutto and Georges Pludermacher, and also at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler of Berlin, in the class of Michael Endres.
At the age of 14, he has performed the Mendelssohn’s 1st concerto with the Orchestre Colonne at the Maison de la Radio in Paris, and has played as soloist at the Champs-Elysées Theater in honour of the Steinway’s piano n° 500.000.
Since then, his concerts have guided him to Germany (Konzerthaus of Berlin with the Berliner-Sinfonie-Orchester), to Austria (Konzerthaus of Vienna), to London (St. Martin-In-The-Fields Church), but also in Italy, in Poland, in Switzerland, in Russia, in United-States, in Romania (with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sibiù)… In 2010, he’s invited at Caracas (Venezuela), as soloist for the first worldwide creation of Anamorphoses for piano and orchestra, by the composer Joseph-François Kremer, with the Orchestra Simon Bolivar, directed by Christian Vasquez.
He has recently performed in several festivals in France, such as Liszt en Provence, Musée en Musique of Grenoble, Solistes à Bagatelle, Les Nuits Pianistiques d’Aix-En-Provence, Piano en Valois…
In june 2014, he has been the guest of the opening weekend of the Festival de Nohant, where he has interpreted a whole recital dedicated to the Frédéric Chopin’s masterpieces, composed in the George Sand’s house. This concert has also accompanied his CD releasing, including the 4 Ballades, the Polonaise-Fantaisie, the Barcarolle and the Nocturnes op.62 of Chopin.
