Join us for a very special World Music Thursday feat renowed Italian singer and improviser Elisabetta Maulo and her Jazz quartet. She was born in Montegranaro (FM), a small town located in the region of Marche (Italy). She discovered her passion for music when she was a child and she started out by learning piano and singing. As an artist she remarkably matured at the age of 19 when she moved to Pisa, where she attended seminars of scat and jazz singing hosted by notorius singers such as Marta Raviglia, Petra Magoni and Titta Nesti. In 2013 she met Kaya Anderson (Roy Art Theater) and attended her seminar “Human voice”. Fascinated by the innate bond between body and voice, she started to get interested in acting in theater plays. She played the role of Gian Burrasca in the play “Gian Burrasca and Pinocchio” directed by Erika Gori at the Verdi theater in Pisa and she participated to the play “Gli Oscillanti” at the Bruno Maderna Convervatory of Cesena. Today she is active in blues and jazz music, being the singer of the band Betta Blues Society, that released three albums (“Betta Blues Society”, “Roots” and “Let them out”). In 2018 they entered the final phase of the “International Blues Challenge” in Memphis (USA), placing in the first 8 bands of the competition. She has a duo with the internationally renowned blues guitar player Roberto Luti. She released an album as co-leader with Piergiorgio Pirro (“More Sundays”, 2015) and she sings jazz in her “Elisabetta Maulo Belgian Quartet” with Piergiorgio Pirro, Nicola Lancerotti and Jakob Warmenbol.
