Ensemble Novel was spontaneously founded by a group of young excellent students from Central Academy of Music in December 2014. It is the first full-time chamber orchestra of modern music in China. The orchestra was sponsored by a Sweden company, Blueair AB and its founder, Mr. BengtRittri in March 2015, to initiate the Blueair Contemporaries Project, which aims to promote the new works by Chinese contemporary composers together with enterprises.

Ensemble Novel has so far held five concerts, "It is the Dog that died", "You Can not Go Back Home Again", "Blueair Contemporaries First Anniversary Concert", "In Our Time & Ensemble Novel Second Anniversary Concert" and "I curse the Time of River--A Concert by Ensemble Novel", helped 15 young composers launched a total of 22 original music pieces.

Up to now, the core members of the Ensemble Novel are: founder Li Jingyuan and Ding Mu, art director Yu Ji, manager Gui Yunchuan.

Ensemble Novel will continue to focus on popularizing and promoting modern music, including new works by contemporary young composers, to give young composers more opportunities to perform their new works.
