798 too touristy for you? Nanluoguxiang too commercialised? Want to get out of the city and actually see something different? Then perhaps it's time to check out the weekly Xiaopu Art Village street market for a fresher experience!

Xiaopu Village is located in Songzhuang Art District, Tongzhou, in the east of Beijing, and is easy to get to using public transportation. Here you'll find a large area of galleries, cafes, restaurants, art supplies shops and boutiques. Amongst the interesting places to eat, drink and shop, each Saturday afternoon the village hosts its weekly street market!

Most Saturday afternoons from April to October inclusive, the market is held on the street outside Chuzou Cafe, with around 25 local vendors selling all kinds of products ranging from handmade soap to vintage bric-a-brac. The market has a great atmosphere, and one that should certainly be experienced as part of a visit to Xiaopu and the wider Songzhuang Art District!

Date: Every Saturday (April - October)

Location: Chuzou Coffee Shop (出走咖啡), Xiaopu Village, Songzhuangzhen, Tongzhou

Subway: Take Line 6 to Dongxiayuan (then take a cab to Chuzou Coffee Shop)

Bus: 808 or 809 from under Guomao bridge, east side (大北窑南); get off at Xiaopu Square (小堡文化广场）and walk west into the village.

Starting time: 11am (spring and autumn); 4pm (summer)

Ending time: 5pm (spring and autumn); 8pm (summer)

Price: Free to attend
