Gaëlle Solal


Guitarist of extraordinary passion and virtuosity, Gaëlle Solal was born in Marseille (France) and began playing the guitar at age 6 with René Bartoli. At 14, she won three gold medals at the Conservatoire de Marseille and as the best student among all instruments, was awarded the Prix de la Ville de Marseille.
A winner of 1st Grand Prix at multiple competitions including Alessandria Competition, Locquémeau, Savona, Sernancehle, Finalist at Concert Artists Guild NewYork, Honor Diploma at Academia Chigiana and 2nd Prize at Guitar Foundation of America. Gaëlle has performed in more than 40 countries including Germany, Myanmar, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Israel, Spain, France, Gabon, India, Iceland, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Serbia, Switzerland, Tunisia, USA and Japan.
She has performed in prominent festivals including Festival d'Ile de France, Noches en los Reales Alcázares in Seville, Festival d'Avignon, Festival Montpellier-Radio France and at Salle Cortot (Paris), Zellerbach Hall (Berkeley), Tsuda Hall, Nikkei Hall, Oji Hall in Tokyo, Merkin Concert Hall (NY) and at the Guitar Foundation of America's International Convention in 2011. She has been invited back numerous times and recently at 2017 GFA, she presented her production of the creative and unique musical comedy, “Crazy Nails !”, in collaboration with Boris Gaquere that left audiences in complete awe of their talents and received a rave review from Classical Guitar Magazine.


She has been a soloist in concertos with the Berkeley Symphony, the Garde Républicaine Orchestra, the Philharmonic of Turin Orchestra as well as the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra


Upcoming recitals include a tour in France as well as many concerts all over Europe and the States and her debut in the Marlow Guitar Series in 2020 next to Washington.


She recorded two Cds : Maestri della Chitarra and Chaconnes & Passacailles. Gaëlle plays with Savarez strings and a Werreydt/Gozzini guitar.
