Mongolian singer Urna Chahar-Tugehi grew up in a family of herders and learned to play the yanqin (Chinese dulcimer) from a Shanghai Conservatory of Music professor visiting Hohhot. She studied at the Shanghai Conservatory and now performs around the world, winning Germany’s RUTH prize in 2003.
