MusicDish Present "Get Unplugged" is a series of performances that aim to go to the roots of the music of some of our favorite Chinese indie bands by minimizing the amplification for a more pure and unplugged sound. The series embraces the motto ‘great music starts with a song’, by focusing on the true artistic spirit of music and live performance, helping audiences to connect to the core of what makes music great.
For the third edition of the "Get Unplugged” series, we’ve partnered with GREAT LEAP BREWING who will be offering a free can of a selection of beers to every pre-sale ticket purchaser, including Banana Wheat, Hidden General IPA, Honey Ma Gold, and Edmund Backhouse Pilsner.
"Get Unplugged" Vol. 03, we invite three bands with differing styles:
Uncle Hu features low fidelity, humanistic sound that’s influenced by American indie rock and classic rock music of the 60s and 70s.
Genre-bending punk band Pizzaface’s music is like feeling the softest embrace with a hard blast, delivering an the energy sure to instantly ignite the scene.
Recommended by music major magazines such as Metal Hammer and Burrn, Ramblin’ Roze is one of the few Chinese retro rock bands that has drawn attention both here and abroad.
UNCLE HU
Born in Chengdu, Beijing-based musician and producer UNCLE HU has been making music under the influence of classic rock music in the 1960s, along with lo-fi / indie rock in the 1990s. Uncle Hu self-released his debut album When Memories Collide in 2015. More recently, Uncle Hu has been performing with a full-band line-up, exploring the broader boundaries of eras and genres. Their Latest EP, The National Moment, was released via their own label Big Nothing Records in October 2020.
PIZZAFACE
A Molotov cocktail of swagger and deviant charm, Beijing’s punk band PIZZAFACE bring their riotous sugar-rush genre-bending punk rock to the stage. A concoction of rock and roll in all its glory and incarnations – ricocheting from waltzy dream-pop one moment and swan diving in a pogoing punk rock ditty the next – the band, led by the ever fearless girl Spirit– a performer who relishes the stage and takes command of her audience, takes each topsy-turvy turn with sly conviction, baiting you one moment with a serenade, and clocking you over the head with giddy ferocity Harley Quinn style the next.
RAMBLIN’ ROZE
Carrying the weight and roughness of early Black Sabbath, stealing the free and ease of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and with a dose of raw punk blazing combustion to boost, RAMBLIN' ROZE is like an old machine and casts the spirit of old-school rock n' roll into a rusted pointer which swings on the classic rock dash board, which turns blues diesel into fuel is ready to strike you with a punch of ruthless backward force and roaring on the highway into a desert night.
GREAT LEAP BREWING
Great Leap Brewing was founded in 2010. Since then, we have been paving the way for the craft beer movement here in the capitol as well as providing a place for people all over China to come taste and understand craft beer. Ten years later, we now have five locations across China, a large-scale production brewery in Tianjin, as well as employ over 100 staff.
Respecting the unique tastes of Chinese cuisine and local culture, we source the finest raw materials and seek to incorporate high-quality teas, spices, honeys, Sichuan peppercorns, coffee, as well as other local Chinese ingredients into our beers.
By integrating all elements of Chinese culture – from ingredients, history, philosophy, and various ideologies – we incorporate a uniquely “Chinese” spirit into each of our beers, many of which have received multiple accolades at various international beer competitions.
