The Peninsula Beijing will welcome a very special British visitor this spring: Paddington™, the ever charming character whose red hat, blue duffle coat, and worn brown suitcase are known and cherished all over the world. Beginning on 7 April and extending through the spring season, the hotel will pay delightful tribute to Paddington with a collection of special experiences.

With these offerings – including a Paddington™ themed Peninsula Afternoon Tea and dedicated atelier – The Peninsula Beijing invites guests and their families to immerse in the enchanting world of their favourite bear. Like Paddington himself, who was first introduced by author Michael Bond in 1958, these experiences will also let guests enjoy the simple pleasures of discovery, fun, and making new friends.

Paddington™ Themed Peninsula Afternoon Tea

Taking inspiration from Paddington’s playful warmth, his love of adventure, and his famous marmalade sandwiches, The Peninsula Beijing’s pastry chefs will present a splendid Afternoon Tea menu at the hotel’s Lobby restaurant. This iteration of the classic Peninsula Afternoon Tea will feature an array of Paddington-themed sweets, including Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie “Luggage”, a Valrhona chocolate and hazelnut homage to Paddington’s treasured old suitcase; Orange and Yoghurt Cheesecake, with zesty orange jelly and creamy yogurt cheese mousse (topped with a tiny bear paw print) that nods at Paddington’s fondness for all things marmalade; and Victoria Strawberry Sponge Cake, a light sponge layered with strawberries and chocolate , topped with a Valrhona chocolate parasol that echoes Paddington’s iconic yellow umbrella. Traditional scones will also be served along with Paddington Homemade Marmalade, clotted cream, and strawberry jam.

The savoury Afternoon Tea selection is equally creative, featuring Pain d'épices with Pumpkin, Apple, Cinnamon, and Berry Glaze; Orange-Marinated Salmon with English Muffin and Crab Roe; Mrs. Brown’s Traditional Beef Pie, a classic British favourite often enjoyed during celebrations; and a Coronation Chicken Wrap, a creative take on the dish originally created for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Paddington™ Themed Atelier

While enjoying the themed Afternoon Tea, guests will be able to explore a specially curated atelier in The Lobby. Designed to evoke Paddington’s adventures and newfound friendships at The Peninsula Beijing, this immersive area will offer a perfect setting for capturing heart-warming memories with family and friends.

The space will have two parts: “A New Friend from Britain” and “Paddington’s Photography Corner.” Both let guests enter, explore, and take photographs inside different aspects of Paddington’s world – including the wisteria-adorned front door of his home at Windsor Gardens No. 32, his backyard filled with flowering plants, and the cosy bedroom where he keeps his hidden treasures and tidy blue duffel coat.

Paddington™ Themed Peninsula Afternoon Tea will be available from April 7, 2026, at The Lobby, priced at RMB 588 per set (for two). Two specialty items displayed during the Afternoon Tea service are available for additional purchase: the Paddington Marmalade Fizz Mug, priced at RMB 98 per mug; and a Red Chocolate Flight priced at RMB 280 net. All prices are subject to a 16.6% service charge. For more information, please call +86 10 8516 2888 ext. 6759 or email thelobbypbj@peninsula.com.
