After reading a fairly positive introduction in the Beijinger about this hot new "artsy" bistro by the Wanda Plaza, I decided to go and check out their 88RMB Sunday Organic Brunch buffet. What especially caught my eye was the free flowing organic "wellness" lemonade, as my penchant for lemonade on a sunny day has not been satisfied enough times here in Beijing.

The place is indeed hard to find, and really not that impressive when you walk in. However, I decided to let the food do the talking. The first strike came when I asked for some much-anticipated wellness lemonade, and all I got was sprite with a dash of lemon juice and orange pulp thrown in. It was terrible. Next I surveyed the array of food out on the buffet, which included spaghetti, salad (basically just lettuce), chicken wings/legs, steamed vegetables, a plate of cold scrambled eggs, and an assortment of little desert tarts. None of the food was terrible, but it was also not very noteworthy either. The biggest problem I had was the utter randomness with the selection. Nothing like combining some scrambled eggs with a leg of chicken! My friend and I were waiting on a group of friends, and decided in the meantime to sample the food. By the time they arrived they were all thoroughly unimpressed enough to leave before sitting down. I paid the 88kuai and left with them. I'm not sure what the food is like from the ala carte menu during the weekdays or anything, but the Sunday brunch gets an avid thumbs down.

I will say, however, that I sampled some lamb shanks that were set out at the end and they were decent, but again, it added to the randomness of the food offered. Maybe the management should look up "brunch basics" in order to better serve their clientelle. The food has promise, but needs to be tinkered with in order to appeal to the Sunday brunchers, and the venue itself really isnt what its cracked up to be in the advertisements
