A word of optimism. There’s much exaggeration in the claim that GISA’s Restaurant isn’t anymore what it used to be in the good old days. To be sure a few things have changed, but the core values stay the same.
Indeed 2008 was a very tough year for our restaurant. The Olympics required a prolonged effort, but the outcome was not very satisfactory for the hospitality industry in general. Then the international economic crisis struck. There were also some changes in the management and in the staff.
As a consequence we here at GISA’s have also decided to change a few things: now our opening ours are longer (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM), our menu is wider and the prices are lower. What didn’t change however is our commitment to quality and to good food. The ingredients that we use are first rate: from meat, to cheese, to olive oil, pasta, vegetables, coffee, etc. Many products are imported directly from Italy. Our kitchen staff has been trained for many years by Italian cooks and the quality is consistent. Our pizza is still one of the best in town. We aim to become a fair and friendly neighborhood “trattoria” and to offer excellent value for money.
Please don’t be put off if some of our staff doesn’t understand English, they’ll try to serve you in the best possible way. Or ask for our restaurant manager, Steve, and he’ll be happy to assist you personally. And don’t take it too seriously if the waiter is not constantly pouring wine in your glass: sometimes it’s more satisfactory to do it yourself, at your own leisure, rather than being pushed by an intrusive waiter to finish your drink quickly.
