Mediocre tasting food, but a nice atmosphere

I took my girlfriend out for dinner here, and she was impressed. I have to say, I was too. The layout of the rooms, the furniture, the carpet, even the lighting, was all very nice. A+ for this restaurant on being able to set a good mood. The food was expensive compared to what I was used to, but I think is was pretty cheap for how fancy the place looked. It was about 150 or so for their standard set meal. The servers were polite, the food arrived not super fast, but fairly quickly, and the menus were bilingual (unfortunately, I didn't know what some of the specialized Italian noodles and sauces were, but I'm going to attribute that to my own lack of knowledge concerning Italian cuisine rather than to the restaurant). The food, however, is where my review goes downhill a little bit. Don't get me wrong, it was okay, but it was just okay. The food was not horrible, but not delicious either: just... fine. The soup was tasty, but other than that the bread seemed too hard, the chicken lacked flavor, and the noodles... well, I have not yet had good pasta in Beijing. All in all, although a good experience (my girlfriend was super impressed with me, and kept gleaming the whole rest of the night), I wouldn't return to the place, because when I eat the food is the most important thing, and I want to enjoy it more than the lack of flavors at this restaurant allowed.
