Dongbeiren is a fun place if you're looking for a loud, in-your-face raucous dining experience. It's not recommended for a quiet romantic dinner.
The food here is like the waitresses - solid and dependable, if not stunning to look at. There's a lot of frying and oil, so it's not for the cholesterol-hearted, but it's great for those bone-chilling mid-winter nights.
The waitresses will get together and "sing" for you on request (ie belt out an off-key folksy number), which can be amusing or irritating, depending on your mood.
The prices are cheap, especially if you eat with a group.
