I recently took a large-ish group of family and friends (7 people) to this extravagant-looking thai restaurant and was quite disappointed with the experience. In Beijing, when I pay Western prices, I expect excellent food and quality service. The food at Laburnum was fine, nothing too special, but the service was atrocious.

It is normal to be out of a dish or two - but its usually best to tell your patrons about this as soon as you are aware. When we ordered we were told about a sold-out dish, but weren't told about that two of the other dishes we ordered weren't available until after we'd finished everything else and were hungrily waiting on them. We also had difficulty receiving a few bottles of beer we ordered and were eventually over-charged for a few we never received.

Fuwuyuan were few and far between, often telling us to deng yihuir and then disappearing and/or ignoring us. With prices like :Laburnum's, the service needs to dramatically improve.

I cannot recommend this restaurant.
