Review of World Health Store
World Health store might be a good place to get all the supplements that are unavailable in China but according to me its over priced. I recently ordered whatever I wanted online and it cost me 1/4th (including shipping) of what it would have cost me to purchase the same things in the World Health Store. What a rip off scam!!! Its much better, cheaper and faster to order online. Boo to you World Health Store.

I agree it's overpriced, but that's because there are so few places like it in Beijing. In Hong Kong they sell the same stuff for about half or even a third of the price. I've told them they are too overpriced before, although they will usually give you up to a 20% discount for just asking, and the foreign staff are very knowledgeable about their products. With the discount, in my experience, the stuff is usually slightly cheaper than ordering online (due to shipping costs).

I am the Founder of WHS in China, originally from Melbourne Australia. We are the first and only Western style health store of its kind. We are 100% foreign owned and managed. We love what we do and go out of our way to help you guys. Our retail pricing in the last few months has dropped dramatically, did the writer check this out before writing a 1/5 review? We import a large amount of products directly from suppliers overseas such as:
--Jarrow Formulas
--BSN
--All American EFX
--Detour Protein Bars
--Chef Jays Protein Bars
--Lifestream (from New Zeland)
If you are a member (did you purchase a membership?) you get between 10-20% off on all items all year round. We also have different sales every month with further savings.
Some people, usually Americans complain about the pricing but actually we are cheaper than most countries in the world on almost all the products we stock. If you compare Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico and Parts of Europe our retail prices alone (not discounted) are FAR cheaper! Of course American products in America - not "imported" will be cheaper "back home!" If they were the same price or cheaper then people would really have to worry if it is real or fake!! And in China unfortunately the reality is that many health products are fake!
Hong Kong is a free trade port so they don't have taxes, or importing duties. In China there are a great deal of taxes that need to be paid in the import of products and the sale of the products. In addition we have to register all products for legal health sales, this is another cost on each import we do. With all those costs in getting products legally into the country for you guys - our prices are still very fair, due to our direct importing to customer arrangement. Have you compared our prices to gyms and supermarkets selling similar stuff in China - we are about 30-40% cheaper and with far better quality brands and products.
I think many people get caught up in China on bargaining hunting due to the culture here and forget to look at the fundamentals. We are a retail shop, not an online super discounter based in America we are based in China. We pay all our taxes on importing and sales and our prices are still much cheaper than other countries and up to 30-40% cheaper than other retailers in China... so are we really that overpriced and deserve a 1/5 rating??

Sorry about delay - have not had the time to check expat websites for a while. Funny stuff. This Fueled guy has literally spammed every single expat website that exisits - often pretending to be another person. Great stuff mate - you must a great deal of time on your hands! WHS now has 4 stores in China - 2 in Beijing (CBD / SOHO Shangdu) and Euro Plaza Shuny area. In Shanghai we have Shanghale Center also called the Portman Hotel in Puxi also in Pudong area at Kerry Parkside.
