My friend who has been living in Beijing awhile took me here, knowing I have been missing Western food. This place really hit the spot! I was hesitant to try it due to the somewhat poor reviews on here and I am happy to report that I am surprised by the negative reviews. When we went, the place was very busy but the waitress still came over to us and we put our order in within 10 minutes of sitting down. Our food came out within about 20 minutes.. definitely not a place to dash into for a QUICK lunch but if you have time to sit down, enjoy yourself and chat with a friend, then the time it took is no problem at all.
But of course the most important thing - the food was delicious! I ordered the roasted eggplant sandwich, it was delicious on fresh ciabatta bread, melted cheese, fresh arugula, onions and roasted peppers. And other people mentioned portion size issues - I was stuffed and still had 1/2 of my sandwich leftover - it was a BIG sandwich.
I don't know why people go to Western places and then complain about the prices - what do you expect? And they aren't that steep - maybe by Beijing standards, sure, but from any other perspective, they are quite decently or comparably priced to something in the U.S.
And yes, it is a Western experience so if you want to experience true Beijing/Chinese, you definitely wouldn't want to come in here anyway.
Overall really enjoyed it and will be back. I will report back if the food is inconsistent each time I go.
