A mate recommended Scarlett for a good Sunday brunch location. A more personal and relaxed version of the mega lunches in the bigger hotels. He was right, the place has a good Sunday vibe going on, other dinners were eclectic - a large tables of friends at one end, a few family groups, and occasional business type person immersed in newspapers or laptops. All very normal and relaxed. A good a la carte menu, or the buffet for 138RMB.
The food was great, clearly a chef who knows his cheese and won't skimp on quality. The staff very efficient and friendly, perhaps a little keen to get those plates cleared away - but what restaurant in Asia does not suffer that problem.
We're glad we made the effort to find it, G Hotel is easy enough to spot, but its side street location does make it a place you need to plan to go to rather than just pop in. There's a smokers half and non smokers half (well until 1 May anyway). I'm looking forward to coming back to try the tapas.
