Visited on 8 April 2011 with six well oiled friends. Overall we were happy with our Gori experience, not wowed, but we enjoyed our night with good food, wine and service. You might wonder why I did not rate it higher than a 3. Well it's hard to explain really, perhaps a 3.5 stars would be fairer, but all of us struggled with the menu.

I know this sounds like I've been watching too many Gordon Ramsey re-runs, but when the menu spans so many styles from East to West, with pictures and all, you're left a bit daunted in the choice department, and some questions - can they really cook all the dishes on the menu well?. I struggled to find something I actually wanted to eat (despite the extensive menu), eventually settling for a steak in wine stew.

On the good side, the ambience is modern and airey, the house red at 120 RMB a bottle was very acceptable, and the extensive choice of bottled wine on display is very cool. The staff were prompt and friendly, and when the food came out most were very happy or happy with their meals. My steak stew can be recommended, although I think the cold potato salad would be better as hot mashed potato. Anyhow, the meat was the king of night, tender and tasty so well done chefs.

Would go again, good for groups as the seating area is generous.

I rate Gori as one of my favorite restaurants in BJ. I tried the burger once, it was way beyond good compares to the other burgers in town, but it's gone on the menu and I don't know why. I also tried the Thai chicken salad, it's a must to try if you want to taste their Asian food.
The restaurant itself has kind of uptown feeling, high ceiling, brick wall, and bay windows, good for a group of friends get together.
