Come on, for sporting goods this place is a joke. It is ok if you want to look like you do sports. Buy sports clothes and a back pack, maybe a bike (maybe two brands to choose from). Badminton rackets and a few balls. That's pretty much it. A few small tents...

Baseball bat? Yes, foam rubber kiddy ones only, Gloves? No. Archery equipment, again they have rubber ones.
Fishing? a handful of rods, Tennis? A little.

Basically it is a pretty lame store if you are really interested in sport.

If you need running shoes, go ahead. Otherwise, I will pass

Welcome to China, where 99% of "sports" stores means cool-looking clothing.

A friend of mine's favorite story is when he went to the Nike store and told the salesperson he was interested in buying some new running shoes. The first question he was asked - "What color would you like?"

They've got light years to go for decent sports stores aimed at the recreational athlete, just as they have years to go before most people here become recreational athletes. The professionals all get their stuff direct from specific companies tailored to them or from overseas.

Ha Ha, Thanks for the welcome! I guess that even though I am in my 14th year here I should know better than to expect different at stores here.
I was in Guangdong for the last 13, newish to BJ though. And I assumed that since it was supposed to be a European store that it would be different.
I complained to the staff. The sign says European sports "Superstore" or Megastore" but they have nothing but clothes and very limited sports equipment. I asked him if this was really a European owned store or a Chinese copy?
He looked sheepish and said that yes its a European store but since the Chinese don't do much sports they only sell the clothes and the sports Chinese like, Badminton, PingPong...
