God, I hate this place. Yeah, I love imported food, yeah I love the convenience, but never again.

I am so F'ing sick of them refusing to give fapiaos, it is time they stopped this bullshit. Every single time I go there it's the same excuse. "Today we just ran out, come back tomorrow". There was a woman there the other day having a good ol' yell at the boss, she had been there 5 times and each time was refused a fapiao.

I usually spend about 700RMB a month at that place and have to fight them for a fapiao every time. I'm over it, April Gourmet may not have the same range as Jenny's but they give me a fapiao every time, no hesitation. I will be going there and to Jingkelong for all my future shopping needs.

The prices at Jenny's are getting obscene. You used to be able to get some good deals there especially with the locally produced cheeses, sour cream, fresh cream etc. I fully understand the costs involved with importing dairy and bulky items so therefore can forgive the price of butter going up 5 kuai in the past year, but now that there are products produced in Beijing, prices should be going down.

You used to be able to get the huge block of Chinese-made cheddar for 23RMB, then it went to 27 which was fine, I was in there the other day and it is 43 Kuai! The local sour cream and fresh cream in the take-away tubs used to be 25ish RMB... now the prices are in the 35 kuai range. The Suki brand range of Chinese cheese costs the same as the imported Great Lakes stuff.

about 30% of their stuff has no price on it, this is because it is expensive. You take it to the register (because the useless staff wandering around haven't the ability to help you or hold knowledge of the products they sell) and they scan it, it is always the priciest stuff on the shelf. I asked them to scan some muesli the other day, 78RMB!

Every shop I do there I find at least one "mistake" on the receipt, and if there is every a special deal, something is on sale, that new price will never be in their register. The online shopping is so terrible, I totally gave up on it, they never have half the stuff you order and as another reviewer said, the prices are never the same as in the stores.

Hi, I never go to Jenny Lou, so I trust you on that.

But April Gourmet (Xing Fu Cun Zhong lu) deals with fapiaos in the same way, they NEVER have it, you're always asked to go back a few days later.

I wonder if, threatening to call the police would work as an incentive.

Also, Sometimes I read the bottom of emails and dont realize they're a Signature... Do you?

people, people, what do you expect, we are in china. go along with this or book your flight home, but hurry prices going...bloody fuel surcharges, but at least Air China gives a fapiao. So go to www.airchina.com and off you go.

you can have any opinion you want on any forum you like, but lamenting about fapiaos at Jenny Lou's is like lamenting about the traffic, the air quality and slow waiters in Beijing, its part of the city, go with the flow or go. And besides that the post was a real lame ad for the other market.

I need to provide fapiao for my job to receive a living allowance. Every other place I go to is happy to give me fapiao, including April Gourmet. I really don't think this is the same as complaining about traffic. If more people made a fuss about it at Jenny's and called 12315 when they were refused a fapiao maybe those bastards would start complying with the law like everyone else.

Congratulations on your choice of elaborate words! I am grown up a long time ago, dont worry about that.
Call all the numbers you want but it will not change, this is going on for years, and neither your post, which I still find is writting in a whinning tone, but on the other hand what can we expect from someone who uses words like idiot and bastard to adress people, and will neither impress the store, nor anybody else. I wish you good luck with your frustrations and fight against the wind mills, and buy a dictionary will help with your choice of words, Page-One for instance gives fapiao.

Bottle-o, legit issues with Jenny Lou's. I find their recent price hikes obnoxious, but April Gourmet even more expensive. I suggest the Sanyuanli Market for local produce, dairy (incl. cheese), nuts, dried fruit, and herbs/spices (and sometimes Western brands as well). This is where a lot of the city's chefs shop as everything is quite reasonably priced. I **don't** know if they hand out fapiaos, but perhaps that's something another commentator can answer..? My only issue are the racks and racks of raw meat, but I'm a vegetarian, so perhaps somewhat of a wuss in this respect Smile

Not entirely sure of the Chinese as there seems to be different character variations in my search. "三元里市场" should work (I hope!).

merriO: thank you laoshi, I will go to spelling school and finally grow up!
Still dont get what is all the fuzz about, prices go up and nobody forces you to buy the stuff at higher prices. I am just fed up with all the crying about this kind of nonsense. Guess nobody is writing in his homecountry forum that the cheese price went up and is blaming the mean supermarket people for doing that.
Sanyuanli is a good place and you get no fapiao so not got for our bottle friend.
