I visited Dareen Coffee on Sanlitun Bei a couple evenings ago. It's just north of the Village. I ordered a plate hummus (30 RMB), a plate of falafel with tahini (30 RMB) and a chicken shawarma sandwich (30 RMB). The hummus was superb, substantially better than any other I've had in Beijing. I can say the same for the falafel, six pieces of fava bean excellence accompanied by some zesty tahini sauce. The shawarma sandwich was also very good, though I felt the bread was a little flaky for my taste.

The manager, a very friendly guy, provided some complimentary bread, meat pastries and a sweet red beverage flavored with rose petals. He was courteous and welcoming and I felt privileged to have found such a dining experience at this price in Sanlitun.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy authentic falafel, hummus and friendly management.
