Review of Blue Frog
1

This is the best burger in Beijing?! How much did they pay the Beijinger to win that award? I have been so many times because my obese friends think about burgers and Blue Frog is first place to come to mind. Mondays are buy one get one free, but they neglect to inform you that all the burgers are microwaved and ice cold. If you get cheese on the burger, you will notice that it is not melted at all because they just put a piece of crap cheese on the burger out of the microwave. Pasta is like 90 RMB and sucks. Even salads are like 80 RMB. It would be hard to find a burger for 80 RMB in the USA, and there would be a revolution if it was that expensive and tasted this badly. Please stop going to this restaurant, it is embarrassing to humanity that it is so popular.

Hoyasnaxa,

Thanks for your review.

You've thrown out the question: "How much did [Blue Frog] pay the Beijinger to win that award?"

Just to be clear, Blue Frog did not pay the Beijinger for any of the the "Best Burger" awards they have won at our Reader Restaurant Awards, nor did they pay for the Beijinger Burger Cup title that they won in 2011. These awards were all decided based on votes from readers and paying customers.

You've seen how busy Blue Frog gets on "Burger Burger Monday" night, so you know there are tons of people out there who like their burgers. Many of those customers have willingly voted for Blue Frog, and that's why they've won awards from the Beijinger.

Opening restaurant awards to a public vote isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's how we decide the Beijinger's Reader Restaurant Awards (and Burger Cup), and we stand by that methodology.

Out of interest: I see from your other review that you rate Frost's burgers highly - any other places you like for a burger?

Best,

Iain

Who told you exactly? can you name names or even just a position within true run media who told you this? Was it a Blue Frog employee?

Blue Frog has grown on me since their opening in Lido, better clientele seems to lead to a much better atmosphere and quality of service and food.

I still wouldnt pay the full whack for one of their burgers, but the monday offer alongside happy hour is hard to better anywhere round town. Fantastic brunch too.

I've been in that restaurant. Yes its very beautiful and modern designed, but i'll never pay 50yuan for chinese noodles or 80yuan for a single burger.. Thats just a big joke and yes, burger tastes awful~ totaly not worth this price.. I dont have a clue why managers of this reestaurant set such a high prices.. I TOTALY DONT RECOMMEND YOU TO VISIT THAT PLACE

I am not particularly picky with burgers. Even Burger King has OK burgers. If you want pricey but good, Maison Bolud and 4 corners have great burgers. Fat Burger, Kiosk, Flamme all have decent burgers. Blue Frog sucks and unless you have never tried any other burger in Beijing other than McDonalds and maybe First Floor, it is very obviously in the bottom tier of burgers in Beijing. Yet it wins best burger and American from the Beijinger...its ridiculous.

Best Burger in Beijing, is it McDonald's or Blue Frog? There's only one way to settle this: let all people living in Beijing vote. Expected results: 99% choose McDonald's and are generally aghast at the idea of an 80-yuan burger. And the official award goes to...Kro's Plate Barbecue
