I don't understand how there aren't any reviews of this place yet!

The good:
Great beer, great selection, and great people. They have none of the pretention that is often associated with hutong bars and craft brews. Down to earth, friendly and they know what they are doing with beer. Fair warning if you like your beer watered-down and flavorless you will not like Slow Boat's beer. As far as I can tell, they do not really have anything light. I don't think the beer is overly strong, but every beer I've had of theirs is full bodied and bold. I would go here all the time if I lived closer.

The bad:
I don't know why they chose such a weird location. There is nothing else nearby and my cab driver either had no idea what I was talking about or was just unwilling to take me there because the street was too hard to navigate. The walk is worth it even in the cold. Just be prepared to walk a bit. I would give them 5 stars if they were easier to get to.

Here's a tip for taxi drivers: Just tell them Zhangzizhonglu and once you get there, direct them to turn south, and then turn left at the second alley. The alley is usually not too crowded for a cab to get there, but if they won't turn down it, it's about 300 meters down the alley.
The problem is that cab drivers don't want to go down alleys if they don't know how to get back out, and they don't want to pick people up in the first place because they aren't making any money.
I have found it easier to just take the subway there. From exit C, just walk south to the second alley and hang a left, and then it's about 300 m down. From subway exit to tap room door, it's about a 5 minute walk, which is no fun in the cold, but once it warms up, it'll be nice.
