What a disappointment. The "beer" was more like vinegar. I'm willing to concede a bad batch--but ALL of the beers we sampled were flat, dull, and tasted like vinegar. Maybe the taps are fouled? I expect fouled taps from a Houhai tourist ripoff, but NOT FROM A BREWERY! We also learned that the brewer is from Corvalis. Well, my wife is from Oregon and she said, and I quote: "He's a disgrace to Oregon... no wonder he had to move to China because he'd never make it with this sludge in the U.S.."

I'm willing to give them one more chance because I REALLY want there to be a decent brewpub in Beijing... but based on out experience, I have to go in prepared again for disappointment.

What a chumpy review. Nothing constructive. Just insults.

In that regard, I'm from Oregon too and I'd venture to say your wife is probably actually from Idaho as Oregon doesn't have a very high retention rate for petulant muppets.

Gonna take a stab in the dark and ask 'are you from another brewery' because wtf man. what a weird 'review' dude. Either you are from another bar or you just have a bone to pick with Slow Boat people. you are not trying to help other people with your review you are trying to hurt slow boat with your insults. im sure your prayers for a decent brew pub in beijing will be answered when you open your own bar.

I had a friend from corvalis who was kicked out for being a douchebag. I don't even know i count him as a friend but I know he got kicked out for being a douchebag, so Im pretty sure you are from Idaho too.

btw vinegar doesnt taste dull in anyones book.

UPDATE: I got a note from Chandler, one of the proprietors of Slow Boat, and based on his message, it is clear to me that he cares deeply about his business and the quality of his product. He gave me a detailed description of their process and I am confident that these guys know what they are doing. I think we must have just visited on an off-night. We are going to back and give them another chance to blow us away with their quality brews... Will post the results here!

"Sha bee" must be a compliment because they say it to me all the time.
