I came here (sanyuanqiao area) for my brithday in October. I'm from Texas and was craving some home cooking. I was not disappointed.
We had chili-cheese fries, fried okra, my bf had the chili dog, and I had the brisket meal (with cornbread, beans, and potato salad).
The prices were quite good for what we got, and the sides were a good size. The brisket was amazing! It was juicy and flavorful. Last week we went to the location in Sanlitun, and were a bit disappointed that they only had burgers/sandwiches for the holliday, but it was fine. The bf got the chili dog again, and I had the brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad, and we had the chili cheese fries again also. The chili is good with a bit of spice to it. My only complaint isn't really a complaint--I just wish they would have nacho cheese sauce for the fries instead of actual cheese. I know that sounds crazy, and I know that real cheese is better. It's just...you know...cheese sauce from home!
In any case, the food is great. The potato salad is nicely seasoned and has a nice crunch to it with the celery. The cornbread was nice, just too small a portion! Tsingtao is the cheapest beer at 15 rmb, and cocktails are way too expensive for a place like this! But the food prices are quite good. Also, I love the smell of the smoky wood in the restaurant!
If you're from the south (or the states) and want some good food, go here. It's not exactly like what you'd get back home, but it's pretty damn close!
