My wife and I frequented the Raj on Valentines for somewhere different from the usual collection of Indian restaurants dotted around the city. We had booked a table based on the assurance they were serving full menu and not some rip off set prices for a small fortune as was the case down-town.

when we arrived , albeit 10-15 minutes late due to traffic for the lantern festival , they had obviously let others have our table and we had to wait 20 minutes for some other diners to vacate. No offer of a drink or anything , just sit and freeze your ass off in some rickety UPVC conservatory.

when a table came free we were introduced to the four set menus , and told the standard menu would take much longer to serve. So basically it was the sets or nothing. Although the seats were reasonably priced starting at a mere 400¥ for two people ,for one the dishes were hardly sufficient to feed a cat , for two most of the food was cold by the time we got it , thirdly we had to keep asking for our two glasses of wine and even had to demand them , fourthly the service was abysmal with only one waiter and the owners geriatric mother trying to attend to a full house. Infrequently they gave some dolly who prances about like a deer on steroids , and she would be far better off helping to keep the service moving.

After frequenting Ganges ,Taj ,Punjabi and Tadka, I have to crown Raj as the worst Indian restaurant in the city. You get better food and better service at mcdonalds!

and I gave one star as you can't give a big fat zero!
