It's a shithouse

I've eaten at Hercules a handful of times and always promise myself that I'll never step foot in the place again. However having exhausted most establishments in Indigo and just wanting a lite bite, we bit the bullet and headed there.

Now Hercules takes up a prime position on the ground floor of the winter garden and if you can get one of the sofas it provides one of the more comfortable seats in that area. Unfortunately for this place, that is where the positives end. The food and serice here is just so horrifically bad its almost comical.

We ordered two sets of sandwiches - the triple ham and the ham and cheese. Both arrived at the same time and the confusion began. They both looked identical. After a bit of digging and checking with the care in the community waiter looking after us, we did identify the one that was meant to have cheese on it. We had, it seemed, mistaken it for a smearing of mayonnaise in our initial investigations.

Now I'm not usually one to complain in restaurants unless something is seriously amiss. But fuck about with my cheese and there is going to be an outbreak of uppityness in the area. We sent it back with instructions for more cheese and watched in bemusement as the ENTIRE staff held a meeting (manager and 4 waiters and chef) trying to figure out what to do.

After 10 minutes it came back with marginally more cheese on it. Not real cheese I might add, some sort of squeezy cheese monstrosity. The portion size is tiny also and just an alround depressing experience.

We also ordered a pizza which had manged to congeal before it even reached our table. Non of the ingredients were distinguishable from the rest and the crust was charred. An absolute Frankenpizza abomination. French fries were frozen skinny fries and completely inedible. You know at McDonalds you get half a dozen fries at the bottem of the box that you cant eat? Well every single one in their portions is like that.

Anyway please please please avoid this god awful place. The sooner it goes out of business and is replaced by something befitting the location the better.
