Review of Gung Ho! Pizza
5

First and foremost I have the upmost respect for the guys behind Gung Ho and the way in which they have gone about building this business. Their attention to detail to Customer Service is second to none, and no small feat considering this is Beijing. Their attitude towards their staff and they way they are treated and invested again is also fantastic and of course their environmental approach to business is to be applauded.

Sadly there is a 'but' coming. To be brutally honest the pizza is still very poor (gone backwards if anything since my last review 3 years ago). It is consistantly over cooked - as raised previously I'm not sure if this is just a case of the pie not travelling well - and the toppings are generally unidentifiable. We ordered a large half and half pizza recently and could honestly not tell which half was meant to be which, either by sight or taste. Still negligable amounts of sauce which just adds to the general mehness of it.

We used their great offer of 50% off when they won the pizza cup to try out their main courses (I consider them too over priced at full cost so wouldnt usually purchase) and they were excellent, the pasta especially, so I cant understand how they get their core product so wrong.

The pricing is also becoming an issue and sorely testing my loyalty, well over 100rmb for a small pizza and a few dips is becoming harder to swallow (no pun intended) as the product decreases in quality.

Thiago has really moved the goalposts in terms of Pizza in Lido, its fantastic. It's bigger, better and cheaper than what Gung Ho offers and if they got themselves sorted with a delivery service then there would be no need to look anywhere else.

Still a 5* as I think that it's a great company, but lets not pretend their pizza cup win was due to the quality of their pie, and I really hope they can adress this.
