I have gone to The Den 5 times now. First time was back when they opened, many years ago. It was good food for a good price. But in those days i lived 6 hours north of Beijing, so not many opportunities to go.
I recently moved back to Beijing, near SanYuanQiao. I had a good drunken night to go back with a buddy and I was happy to enjoy the big burger (until the next morning 
).
I went back 3 more times over the last month.
· The first of the 3 was ok, but the waitress, a kind of "masculine" girl was unpleasant and a bit rude. I wrote it off as someone with a bad day and enjoyed my steak sandwich.
· The second time the same waitress was there and she was very rude, but again, there was a very drunk and rude customer causing problems so, once again I figured it was just another bad day.
· Now, the last time, and I mean LAST TIME EVER, she was there again. I got a different waitress this time though. I ordered from the lunch special where it says “Den’s ALL BEEF BURGER” which sounded good to me. After waiting nearly 25 minute for my order and my friends, they brought it out with bacon (I am a Jewish man, no pork). I was polite about it, as being in China it happens more often than not; something is brought out with pork, even if the menu does not say it. I explained I am Jewish and I cannot have pork, and asked them to make a new one. She walked away in a huff and came back with a menu; she said the menu told me that it says pork. So I asked her to show me. She opened to a page in the back, which was not what I ordered. I showed her the lunch special, which is what I ordered and it did not say it. She said she would ask her boss if they could make it again. After 5 minutes she came back and said they will make a new one. (With experience I had them leave the wrong food on the table till the new one came so they did not do a switch). Now started the fun with the waitress from Hell. The other one comes over and asked “Can I ask you something?” and she said it polite, more so than the next part. She said to me; “If you did not want bacon you should of told us!” said very rude and extreme. “I told her the menu did not say it has any on it or I would of.” This was not what she wanted to hear because she got even ruder. “You should of known better.” She told me and continued with, “All people know burgers come with bacon!” said loudly. I responded with, “Go to McDonalds, TGI Fridays and many others, if it has bacon on it the menu says it, if it does not say it then it does not have it.” She then told me it was still my fault. Then she tried to move the food that was on the table and told me that the other waitress will eat it and I should not breath near it. (If I wanted this abuse I would of found my ex-wife). She then walked away and continued speaking in Chinese to the other workers saying that I was rude and discussing. I told her I want to speak to the manager, she said “No.” When I told her I expect the boss now, she said they are not there. I asked for the phone number and then she said that she would never give it to me. I told her than I will not stay and I will just leave. She surged and I left.
Food is awesome, when it is right, but there is no way I will ever eat there again, the service (or lack of) is not worth it. Suggestion to owner, FIRE THAT PERSON! Message me for more info
