The only thing "legendary" about this bar is its bad service

Some friends and I, 4 in total, headed to Legend bar for a late lunch. We brought our dog as they were listed as a dog friendly restaurant in a published list from a dog group. We were led to our table where we were informed that everyone must spend at least 100rmb a person. Also there was a promotional event for 68 rmb you could all-could-drink from the beer menu. We asked for our friends that don't drink beer, is there any other options for them. "No" and we were further informed that if they sit at our table they will still have to pay 68 rmb, even if they don't drink. So we asked them, "What if we all just order drinks from the menu and none of us will take part in the special". They then informed us that the special is mandatory and everyone one must take part in it.

Needless to say this should have been a sign, but as I have come here before and I enjoy the food we decided to stay. We then asked for the menu, I tried to order a beer, they were out of the one I wanted, then the next beer I choose, out as well. I asked the waiter which beers do you have, and they minus the two beers I tried to order everything else they have. I picked a cider, they said the cider was not part of the deal even though it was between the two beers I tried to order. A very confusing start.

We were siiting on the patio and there was a lunch time drinking crowd and is was always very difficult to get our waiters attention. One answered question, and she would leave to take care of the drinking crowd. We we finally grabbed her attention and started ordering food, but with a 100rmb minimum per person and most of the dishes we wanted to eat being around 80-90 rmb, we were forced to order more than we probably could eat. My girlfriend asked for water for the table and some for our dog. We were informed that the only water is bottle water at 25rmb a bottle. Charging for water is a little overdoing it, especially when you are already forcing peole to spend more than 100rmb and forcing them to drink. So at 100rmb food, + 65rmb for the special, and 25 rmb for the water, are lunch was turning into a 800rmb meal for 4 people.

My girlfriend went to the bathroom to grab a bit of water for our dog, as we thought it doesnt make sense to pay 25rmb for a bottle. On her back our table was apporached by the manager. He told us that this is actually not a dog friendly place and that they were doing us a favor letting us keep our dog. We mentioned that their restaurant was on a list that showed they were dog friendly he told us we are lying. Then we showed him the list and he said, whoever made the list is lying. A simple, "Sorry we are actually not a dog friendly place, there must have been a mistake", would have been enough.

With the bad service, confusing pricing, minimum per person, the rude treatment for bring our dog, and the super aggressive Manager, we finally we had enough and decided to take our business elsewhere. The mananger informed us that we must pay now. Keep in mind we just ordered and not a single paid for item had come to our table. No drinks, no food, not even cutlery or plates. We informed the manager that we will take our business elsewere. He asked a nearby waiter, "Is the food made?" Their response was "No". But then in Chinese he told the waiter to change his answer to everything was already made. Quickly the waiter said, "The food is ready". Come on, right in front of us!!

We started to walk out of the restaurant and the manager told us not to leave. He threatened to call the police. We told him fine, do it! Instead the restaruants security guards appeared and tried to coral us back to our table. We walked around them and as we got about 100 metres down the street. The manager ran us down with 10 security guards and surrounded my me, my girlfriend, and our two friends.

Now the manager who was rude the whole time, is going full-tilt Chinese gangster in our faces, yelling and doing the whole cut-eye act, screaming that we must pay. We told him your service was awful and we dont have to pay if you never gave us anything. We told him and his security guards to let us leave and they just stayed, blocking our path as the manager was just losing his mind.

Finally we had enough and I started filming all of them, while my girlfriend called the police. All of suddent the manager stopped yelling and he and the security ran back to restaurant. As they walked away he told the secuirty guards to remember our faces and never let us in.

1) If your restaurant is not dog friendly, just tell people. They can find another restaurant. Don't let them come in against your rules and treat them like crap because you don't want their dog in your restaurant.

2) Don't make confusing specials that force people to drink. We have many friends that dont drink and I also don't always drink. Especially around lunchtime.

3) Don't charge for table water, especially when you are making people pay around 200rmb for lunch.

4) Don't hire more security guards than waiters if you are a restaurant. I counted 2 waiters in total that day serving the patio, but 10 on call security guards.

5) Don't hire a manager that seems his last job was managing a tourist shakedown place, where getting money, is more important than making your customer happy.

6) Don't use aggression and violence to deal with problems, Legend Beer should be known as a brewery, it should not be famous for its gangster like business practices.

Super disappointed that such a restaurant is able to do business.
