The coffee shop is good for working. There's enough light and the seating is comfortable. Enough space separates the fairly large tables. A few cats roam around.

I would have made it my go to get work done coffee shop, but there is a fraud report on Tripadvisor made by a tourist in 2015. According to the tourist a waitress with the assistance of 3 men working at the coffee shop attempted to switch legit bills from the tourist for fake ones and intimidated the tourist. I don't want to give business to a place with a reputation for scamming tourists. It's too bad because otherwise this coffee shop fills a niche as a work/study option that is not easily found in Wudaoying Hutong. Despite the many choices here for coffee or tea, most establishments are small or outright cramped.

There are some coffee/tea alternatives in Wudaoying Hutong for getting work done:

  • You House (No. 24) is a Japanese restaurant but has a second gabled roof room behind the main restaurant for serving tea and coffee. Quiet, spacious, and not many patrons during the afternoon.
  • Hidden Hours (No. 60) is a tiny coffeeshop that makes premium coffee. There are just 4 small tables for laptops but the place is open until 1 am. Late at night there aren't many people, making this a decent late work spot.
  • Phoenix Cafe (directly across from Hidden Hours) is a bit of sqeeuze for space and busy. More suitable for hanging out but can be a work spot.

If proof means it's better to let 10 guilty men go free then let one innocent suffer then no. But obviously we are not in a court of law based on a Western tradition and no one is having their freedom taken away. I see nothing unfair in relyaing the allegation made from another review website.

So 4 years ago, someone wrote a post saying they think the waitress switched some of their bills.

We have no proof the story is true.

We have no proof the waitress switched the bills.

We have no proof the waitress works there anymore (she probably doesn't).

If I write a post saying inthecards tried to grab my ass, does that mean it's true, and should people avoid you?

I'm all on for avoiding shady Chinese business owners (they are everywhere), but writing a review based on hearsay seems a bit odd. The fact that you're being so defensive and aggressive is also odd.

Are you one of those weird foreigners living in China? That might explain your review.

I've noticed your obnoxious comments elsewhere. http://www.thebeijinger.com/forum/2019/02/06/anyone-bar-hoppingexploring

I'm not acting out of defensiveness. I'm calling you out for being a nuisance. I can't understand why anyone would hang around the website without trying to be helpful. Are you a loser?
