I visited this restaurant at least half a dozen times in last several months.
And after first few great excelent experiences, reality kicked in.
First of all I come from a Mediteranean country, and we have some of the dishes from the Biteapita menu in our cousine. So, after being delighted with humus, babaganoush, falafel and kebabs I wanted to try other dishes from the menu.
And of course I wanted to try the dishes that I eat regulary in my country. First I ordered mousaka. Which was really bed. Too mushy, watery, i needed a straw to eat it. Mousaka should not be so mushy. It should not be dry, of course, but juicy and ingredients should be separated and not one big mushy lump of something.
Then i tried bakhlava... typical turkish dessert (I'm not turkish). Which was on the other hand, way too dry. It should be juicy, not too much but it should not be dry. Maybe they don't have many orders of bakhlava so maybe this one stayed too long in the fridge.
And lastly, i tried filled paprika (peppers). Staple dish in my country. Paprika filed with minced meat, rice, pancetta or bacon pieces and spices. Served with mashed potatoes. Both of those were bad in Biteapita. Not enough salt, not enough spices and not much taste in meat. Mashed potatoes need butter, milk and salt. How hard is that to make it good.
So, unfortunatelly Biteapita is a great restaurant if you stick to these few good dishes that I mentioned in the beginning. If you wanna venture into other ones from the menu, be warned.
I will for sure go there since some of the food is delicious and prices are really reasonable, but unfortunatelly only three stars from me.
