Shandong Provincial Government Restaurant

The official Provincial Restaurant for Shandong serves local Shandong delicacies such as a DIY-to-share jianbing (RMB 57), fish, meats, and things wrapped in dough.

Ming Court

Headed by a master chef trained at the two Michelin-star Ming Court at the Langham Place in Hong Kong, it specializes in Cantonese and Shandong cuisine served in palatial surrounds. Must-try dishes include dim sum along with barbecue meats from the purpose-built barbecue kitchen. Chinese teas handpicked by the resident Beijing tea master and a top-drawer selection of wines and Chinese spirits accompany the feast. Seven suites for private dining, some with staggering views of the runway.

Xi He Ya Yuan

Situated in a courtyard, Xi He Ya Yuan combines the culinary traditions of Sichuan, Shandong, Guangdong, Huaiyang and other regions in their dishes, which include "Wo Hop Roast duck" is seasoned with blueberry jam or soft white sugar sauce and roasted in a traditional oven.

Tai Feng Lou

One of the "Big Eight" (八大楼) Shandong restautants in town, this is the only place in town that serves stir fried pork tripe and chicken gizzards(you bao shuang cui, 油爆双脆), a dish that demands an extremely rare technique that is almost extinct in Beijing.

Dongxing Lou

The most renowned of the formerly "Big Eight" restaurants (most of them serving Shandong cuisine) in town, this Dongzhimemennei restaurant serves classic dishes like fish in wine-flavored sauce (cu liu yu pian, 糟熘鱼片), deep fried meat balls (gan za wan zi, 干炸丸子) and scallion flavored sea cucumbers (cong shao hai zhe,葱烧海参).

Sha Guo Ju

This restaurant goes back hundreds of years and specializes in pork dishes cooked in casserole claypots (shaguo nairou). Other traditional specialties include dishes made with pig's innards for adventurous eaters. The fantastic almond pudding (xingren doufu) is authentic and only RMB 2." Signature dishes include Shaguo Bairou (砂锅白肉), fried pork belly (炸脂盖) and imperial lion's head meatballs (宫廷狮子头).

9 Dynasty

Part restaurant, part theatrical experience. Nine Dynasty serves contemporary Chinese cuisine inspired by imperial, Cantonese and Shandong cookery in lavishly decorated banquet halls and private rooms. The design theme is based on the palaces, antiques and decorations of China’s nine ancient imperial dynasties. Yet this is much more than just food and fancy decoration. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, after enjoying set meals (RMB 299-999 per person), patrons can enjoy a performance of one of the most ancient forms of Chinese opera – Kunqu.
