Mike Peters - one of Beijing's most talented lifestyle reporters - was diagnosed with terminal cancer recently and has since passed away. A benefit will be held to raise money for his hospice care, repatriation, and other health expenses.

The Aug. 20 benefit will include a donation on the door as well as beer sponsor from Slow Boat, wine from Cheers, and limited cocktails from BBC. TRB Copper will serve canapes and sweets. There'll also be a raffle and auctions on prizes such as:

- Dinner for two at the The Georg from a RMB 650 menu, plus wine and champagne (about an RMB 3,000 value)
- A set dinner for two at Hatsune, sake included (worth RMB 2,000)
- A weekend night stay at the Fairmont Hotel in a Gold Junior Suite with Gold Lounge access for two
- An exclusively designed hand-turned, hand-painted ceramic vase from Pop-Up (value of RMB 1,550)
