The Yale Center and Yale Club of Beijing invite you to come hear, see and learn about rare violins during this English-language event. Throughout history, rare violins from renowned makers have not declined in value, and have reliable valuation records that in some cases go back hundreds of years. They are works of art on par with paintings by Picasso and Van Gogh, both in market and artistic value - one of the most expensive recorded sales in recent years was a 273-year-old violin by the Cremonese master Bartolomeo Giuseppe Guarneri ‘del Gesu’, known as the “ex-Vieuxtemps,” which sold in excess of 16 Million USD. While significant financial acquisitions, these instruments are also tools that are cherished by artists around the globe for their unique sound, and are regularly heard in the world’s great concert halls.
