Learn how to make Sticky Gingers, the winning cookie from The Hutong's 2017 Cookie Monster Charity Bake-Off!

Inspired by the first cookies Jennie ever baked, these chewy ginger treats are loaded with crystallized ginger, drizzled with gooey caramel, and topped with more crystallized ginger for a satisfying combination of flavors and textures.

Originally from California, Jennie worked for years in the film and television industry and then in education before deciding that what she really wants to be when she "grows up" is a baker. The only baking done in her childhood home was of the boxed-cake-mix variety, but she became interested in baking at the age of 10 or 11, when she tried her hand at her neighbor's recipe for ginger cookies. After realizing that baking is something that has given her joy for so much of her life, Jennie decided to turn her hobby into a career. In April of 2016, she started Jennie's Oven, a home bakery that she operates out of her tiny hutong apartment. She will be starting pastry school at the International Culinary Center in New York City this fall.
