Grapes of Wrath

(Show information for patrons at the end of this message.)

AUDITION DATE: Saturday, September 9, 2016 at 10 am.

REHEARSAL PROCESS: Beijing Playhouse’s main stage shows take three months to rehearse and perform. Charity Readers Theatre rehearses for only one week. And at the end of that week, we do one performance only. It’s a show in a week. While the commitment is much less, one week as opposed to three months, that will be one extremely intense week. Actors who are cast will live and breathe this show for that week.

LOCATION: Charity Readers Theatre’s auditions and rehearsals for Grapes of Wrath are at the Dongsi Theatre rehearsal studio, a two minute walk from the Dongsi subway station. The one performance is at ISB in Shunyi.

PRE AUDITION DRAMA WORKSHOPS: Before the September 9 auditions, there are three drama club workshops that will provide you with more information about Charity Readers Theatre, Beijing Playhouse Drama Club and Grapes of Wrath. If you are auditioning, attending these drama club workshops would be helpful, but not required.

Charity Readers Theatre, presented by Beijing Playhouse Drama Club, is all about acting, acting, acting. There are almost no costumes, no props, no sets, no lighting design, no sound design, no subtitles. It’s all acting. And as it is readers theatre, actors will carry scripts to refer to. Charity Readers Theatre is an artistic process where actors rehearse for only one week. And at the end of that week, we do one performance only. It’s a show in a week.

AGES: All Charity Readers Theatre shows are designed for families. This show is appropriate for ages 14 and up.
