The band Samaga has its roots in world music, specifically the music of India and the Middle East, which they combine into new forms of jazz. The group performs with Ma Zheng, a student of Indian classical master Bheemsain Bhajantri and Keshav Talegaonkar on the sitar, French jazz and flamenco guitarist Pierre Brahin on oud, and drum instructor Yang Dong playing traditional Middle Eastern percussion instruments.
