Since its founding in 2008, TAO Dance Theater has taken China's dance world by storm. TAO has been featured in modern dance festivals throughout China, including Caochangdi Art Workstation (Beijing), Sino-US dance festival “Booking DANCE FESTIVAL Beijing 2008”, Beijing Modern Dance Week, Shanghai Crossing International Dance Festival, Shanghai Fringe Festival, Guangdong Modern Dance Festival, Kunming Crossing Festival, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Biennial Exhibition, etc. TAO is the second Chinese modern dance company after Guangdong Modern Dance Company in 1997 to be invited to the American Dance Festival to perform, and the first Chinese company to be invited to be in-residence for the six-week festival. In 2012, TAO was invited to perform at Lincoln Center Festival, and was the first Chinese modern dance company invited to perform in the Spring Dance Festival at Sydney Opera House. TAO continues to tour internationally to major venues and festivals, including "Novell Dance Series" in Taipei, invited by renowned Asian choreographer Lin Hwai-min.
