Local promoter Drunkard has organized a special showcase show with the theme "Glory of City" this evening that features a trio of Beijing's best bands and a couple special guests. Making in the trek in from Weihai in Shandong province are the small city's greatest hope for independent music, XianTong. The much hyped GriffO abandon their home of Hangzhou for the weekend and also grace us with their presence tonight. Rounding out the line-up are Beijing's own Secret Club, Wonder Sea, and Acid Accident.

Post-rock chamber-pop foursome hailing from Weihai XianTong were formed in January 2016 by former the former guitarist of the hugely popular Beijing band Nuclear Fusion - G. The line-up is completed by fellow guitarist Bo Wen, drummer Li Wei, and bassist Niu Yinong, as well as friend and artist Sun Ye, who paints and creates covers and artwork for all of XianTong's songs and releases.

Fellow post-rockers GriffO take their name from the Chinese pronunciation of the English word "geek" with a yawn in the middle for good measure. Lying beside the West Lake in Hangzhou, the foursome would scratch their heads contemplating the differences between the Eastern and Western worlds. Their understanding and simultaneous inability to comprehend the differences were the stimulus for their brand of post-rock that helps them find their place in this boundless world.

With a fascination for British retro culture and clever catchy guitar riffs, Secret Club take you back to the "golden age" of guitar driven rock n' roll from the turn of the century. Their fevered energetic live show mixed with their retro rock appeal has allowed Secret club to quickly gain a strong following of indie rock fans over the past five years.

Wonder Sea formed on the outskirts of Beijing while the members were attending university. Brought together by their mutual love for bands like Omnipotent Youth Society and Chinese Football, the band has created a catalog of post-emo anthems. With musical creations powered by their daydreams and wandering minds as much as their musical prowess, the future is bright for these young artists.

Acid Accident formed in the summer of 2016 on a whim and without deliberation. "Acid" represents a feeling found in the trio's music, one that is neither sweet nor bitter. Instead it is a darkness that oozes from the body, something that is cold, alive, and "accidentally" revealed. Using guitar, bass, and drums to break down the traditional framework of rock music with their instrumental creations, over the past two years Acid Accident has become one of Beijing's most exciting bands.
