The paintings in this exhibition shows the artistic brilliance of two renowned Maldivian painters :Ahmed Amir and Afzal Shaafiu. It's a mix of contrasting styles, forms and subjects. But a common thread runs through the paintings; that of the connection between us and the world. A connection that has been benevolent and malevolent at the same time. Our impact on the oceans of the world. For example is playfully highlighted in the fish series by Afzal, where he depicts the connection Maldivian have with the sea, which provides connectivity across the scattered islands, and sustenance from bounty of the sea.
