He graduated from the Department of Folk Music of the Central Conservatory of Music and the Department of Composition of the China Conservatory of Music. In 1993, China's first jazz album, "Chinese Folk Jazz," was published and released based on Chinese folk songs. In 1996, he founded China's first national fusion jazz band - Tian Chang Band, and participated in Australia, Hong Kong and other world music festivals. In 2002, he published China's first solo jazz piano album "Summer Palace," and in 2007, he published his personal monograph "Modern Jazz Piano Performance Method." He has trained many young jazz musicians and world-class jazz pianists. In 2012, he was the first to represent the Chinese Ministry of Culture to tour the world with the Chinese National Jazz Orchestra. In 2019, the Grading Committee of the China Conservatory of Music published the first jazz piano grading test textbook in China.
