Just to the east of Tiananmen Gate is the entrance to the "Working People's Cultural Palace," also known as the Imperial Ancestral Temple. This is the cheat code version of the Forbidden City: Nearly identical architecture and spaces with 99 percent fewer other humans to share those spaces. If you're slick enough – or your guests aren't paying sufficient attention/still hungover from the night before – you can fool them into thinking they are actually in the Forbidden City proper.

Formerly known as TRB Bites, this is the dining concept of TRB group (formerly known as Temple Restaurant Beijing, but since rebranded only as TRB). This venue is located by the Forbidden City east gate. Great service, quality food, and sleek ambience are indicators that this is the newest addition to the TRB Hospitality Group.

Bright and clean restaurant near the Forbidden City specializing in Beijing roubing and other classic homestyle dishes such as kung pao chicken. The restaurant also has an English menu and English-speaking staff.

Jingshan park is one of Beijing most famous attractions. Standing in the middle of the city north-south axis and facing the Forbidden City, it offers a full view of Beijing, including the Drum and Bell Tower and Beihai White Dagoba Temple.

Opened in 2003, this museum on the east side of the Forbidden City features bronze statues, imperial artifacts, costumes and art pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Admission is RMB 20 for adults and RMB 10 for students with ID.
