I am gonna jump in the bandwagon too.
I have been a regular to The Local ever since they started as Brussels. I´ve been there dozens of times: casual drinks, World Cup games, birthdays, quizzes, empty bar, full bar, afternoon, evening, late night. With this experience and having received nothing but stellar service, I´m positive that the string of bad reviews accusing the owners (meaning Kenn and the other dude whose name I don't remember) of being rude to customers is nothing but a big pile of horseshxxt.I personally believe that this narrative you come across so often where "I was hanging out minding my own business and being completely cool and out of the blue the owners/employees kicked my out" is, at best, extremely biased most of the times. Having seen The Local team at work many, many times, I'm totally sure that there is something smelly, to put it softly, with this particular string of cases.
Anyway, if someone is reading these reviews and wondering what's going on here, say, someone from out of town or someone who's never been to The Local, I tell him/her: don't believe us. Don't believe me, don't believe the people who've written those rants. Go check it out yourself. Go to The Local any given night, weekday or weekend, doesn't matter. Have a beer, something to eat, chat with the owners, and see for yourself if they are the d-bags some people here claim them to be or if they are cool guys who're willing to go the extra mile to please customers. See if it's empty or if it's packed, see the general vibe. Worst case scenario, you're already in Sanlitun, if you don't like it, you have dozens of bars within walking distance. My bet? You'll stay there for a couple more drinks.
