The food is served in half portions but is overpriced if you are just paying for the food, as the decor is very simple, not personality, with a NOT BULLSHITING,NOT SMOKING painted at the walls. Then the owner smokes at the bar.The staff doesn't speak english what makes impossible to make a proper order, they look at you as they understood but they didn't.I've been living in Beijing for almost 6 years and this is a kind of snobb place.
Don't forget the toilets are at 100m away from the restaurant take your coat !

Re: Overpriced.
ok. so there is a 5 star rating. 5 being the best and 1 being the ABSOLUTE WORST.
your rating implies that the quality of ingredients, the menu, the flavours of individual dishes, the service, the wine list, the ambience etc etc is amongst the worst you have ever encountered in beijing.
this cannot possibly be the case unless you routinely eat at michelin starred establishments.
but this obviously cannot be the case as you reckon modo is overpriced and a "snobb place". modo's pricing should be judged in comparison to it's competitors and when you do so you find that it fits in fine.
to rate it as one star out of five because the toilets are less than 50m away and the owner smoked at the bar is frankly bizarre....
it's like going to a saville row tailors then rating a suit as 1 star because it's so expensive. and didn't have a toilet.
