Modernista will mark its ANNIVERSARY MONTH kick off by inviting the renowned contemporary Jazz Saxophonist Steve Bedi and his band made up of talented musicians to give full play to their musical creation of Jazz and Afro-beats!

Having made himself known on the jazz scene of Ghana Steve Bedi quickly won the interest of the international Jazz community and it wasn´t before long he was requested to tour in various parts of the world sharing his solo performance on sax. He has performed at international festivals as well as private shows all over the world. He has also featured on stage with legendary musicians on the African continent, South Africa’s (Late) Hugh Masekela, Senegal’s Baba Maal, Cote D’Ivoire’s Fredie Meiway, Cameroun's Richard Bona, America's Bob James , Tom Braxton and the celebrated Ghanaian group - OSIBISA.

Steve Bedi’s passion isn’t limited to only playing the Saxophone, but extends to seeing a world where people are happy because they make the right choices; He spends a lot of time mentoring young people and as a result of his work, he was recently appointed UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for the HIV and AIDS “protect the goal campaign” where he has supported UNAIDS on HIV prevention campaigns in Ghana, Malawi and South Africa.

On November 1st at 7:00pm the Performing Arts Center will vibrate with the distinct sound of Jazz as we welcome the Beijing Jungle Big Band to Keystone’s JAZZ NIGHT. The Beijing Jungle Big Band was China’s first real big band and is composed of professional musicians on saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and a full rhythm section complete with piano, bass and drums. Opening for the Beijing Jungle Big Band will be Keystone’s own Groove Train, a faculty band composed of teachers across all divisions of the school.

Jazz spread around the world a century ago from its humble beginnings in New Orleans, USA, and as it did so drew inspiration from various national, regional, and local music traditions. It is, in many ways, a celebration of the fusion of many cultures finding opportunities for expression through music.

Keystone’s JAZZ NIGHT will honor both the heritage of Jazz and look toward the future as we showcase new music inspired by traditional Jazz forms. Come join us for a fun night of music that is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are 200rmb for Adults and 100rmb for Students and Keystone Faculty/Staff. Yue Space brings you ambient, krautrock and drone on Sunday, November 11th. See three bands, Scattered Purgatory, Ruo Tan and Prince Heng.

The lingering atmosphere of Scattered Purgatory is the silent noise in the experimental music. It is difficult to describe it in words. Even without the traditional music/song/singing pop music framework, the sound is still very sweet, deep and rich, and full of imagination.

Ruo Tan's music takes risks in the experiment. Through the use of minimalist percussion and effects, it depicts a fierce sneak sensation that leads to the deepest part of consciousness. A deep ritual also leaves blank.

A knife into the soul, born to death. Compared to other orchestral impromptu musicians, such as Zhu Wenbo's delicate and elegant, or Li Zenghui's dark and crazy atmosphere, Prince Heng's performance, and this album, there is a kind of bamboo forest sword.

PERSHAGEN was founded in 2015 in the northern Swedish port city of Pitea. The band includes guitarist Jimmie Nilsson, bassist Andreas Sahlin, drummer Johan Kalla and keyboardist Theo Stocks. The name of the band PERSHAGEN is actually a place name in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. The band recorded the first DEMO, so it got its name.

In the three years, PERSHAGEN has its own place in the post-rock field of Sweden and even Europe with their post-rock style with a strong psychedelic color. PERSHAGEN's music is very dynamic, like running water, and this fluidity is like a cinematic imagery atmosphere. In the psychedelic world woven by PERSHAGEN, the combination of jazz elements and post-rocking music always gives a feeling of coldness and softness, and a sense of dreamy virtuality, creating a picture of life in northern Sweden, natural, lyrical and quiet.
