Alarming Statistic
422
The number of porn sites that have been "investigated and punished" this week as part of the State Internet Information Office's (forever) ongoing attempts to ban all yellow content from the web. It's the week that never happened here in Beijing and I for one have been enjoying the air show provided to keep me distracted from other, more pressing, matters. Here are some other things you should probably distract yourself with.

Bob Louison aka Mr. Mix drops by Trouble Bar, which promises to keep the ladies happy (and the gentlemen paying) with 30 percent off cocktails, before things get decidedly more yeasty with the Third Annual Beijing Craft Beer Festival, covering both Friday and Saturday. If brew ain't your thing, no concern, as Friday also sees the start of Mushroom Festival, where you can buy your favored psiloc ... maybe not, but there'll be plenty of great music. There's also a fair-trade Pop Up Shop, killer Dada night and 48 Film Project to get your teeth into.

For an early start on Saturday get down to The Other Place for some house and all the sausages you could ever want, or alternatively, start even earlier at the Beijing International Touch Rugby Tournament. Also, The Hutong will be serving up Margaritas and Fusion Tacos all evening but if you like your parties/band names gimmicky, head down to the Black + White Midsummer's Night Party (update below!) or go see Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes at XP.

On Sunday, catch German indie rockers Die Sterne play for free at Yugong Yishan or cycle out to 798 to see Ao Guoxing's new solo photography exhibit, documenting some ominous-looking amusement rides.

On Monday, Tim Robbins hits Beijing to bring you his rendition of A Midsummer's Night Dream (if you survived the first one) and then on Tuesday Paddy O'Shea's welcomes the World Cup with a special football-themed edition of its pub quiz.

And that's all folks! Make sure to keep up-to-date with goings on by checking out our events page and through our weekly WeChat newsletter by subscribing to "theBeijinger". Also, keep on sending us those summer pics via Instagram #thebeijinger and follow us @the_beijinger.
