Now that the gentle waft of cheese has finally settled and rests as a medium-fine layer of fat on our collective memory of this year's Pizza Cup, it's time to dabble in our follow-up exercise: Beijing's best spinoff pizza.

From Wudaoying Hutong to U-Town Mall: Wan Opens Its Second Branch, Specializing in Hainan Chicken Rice

It’s been over a year since Wan first opened its doors on Wudaoying Hutong, serving middling Vietnamese cuisine in a traditional courtyard. Wan has now opened its second branch on the fourth floor of Chaoyangmen's U-Town, marking its first foray into the arena of mall dining and a marked difference to its more humble beginnings.

Rocking Against Posers: Rising Nanjing Band Sixi Talk Keeping it Real Ahead of Dec 15 Yugong Yishan Gig

Seeing as Sixi is fronted by the sizzlingly charismatic vocalist and synth player Xiao Xin, and rounded out by flaring guitar riffs of Wang Laoji and the bouncy rhythm section of Xiao Kai and Yang Yang (on bass and drums, respectively), there's little wonder why the alt-rock quartet is one of the most hotly buzzed bands to come out of Nanjing's music scene in quite some time. Though they're more mainstream than hometown forefathers like P.K.

Sanlitun's Faltering Yashow Taken Over by Swire, Set to Become Taikooli West

Half a year after its closure, there's finally word on what will become of Sanlitun's white elephant. Yashow, once the go-to for bargain hunters across Beijing, will be taken over by property behemoth Swire and Kuntai, who will renovate it (yet again) and transform it into Sanlitun Taikooli West, reports Toutiao.

The chopstick sleeves at Beyond Yakitori say "if there's a will, there's a way" and if owner Chris Niu's will is to make the Topwin-based venue one of Beijing's more interesting restaurants then he has certainly found a way to do it. A pianist, a cellist, and ... a ballerina?

The combination might seem offbeat, but that’s exactly what Miranda Vukasovic loves about it. The Croatian pianist and singer-songwriter is best known for fronting local rock and soul-infused band The Radiance, which frequently performs at venues like DDC and Aotu Space and channels the work of Nina Simone and David Bowie, two of Vukasovic's biggest inspirations.

EAT: Nali Patio Christmas Celebration, Bottega Set Lunch, Slow Boat x Migas Chorizo Dog, Jing-A Xingfucun Lunch Special

Tis the season to wantonly treat yourself, my favorite method of which is the odd indulgent lunch here and there. Luckily, Bottega have recently updated their set lunch menu with some new wintery options such as cream of chickpea soup garnished with mozzarella-stuffed squid and pollo al forno (baked chicken with sautéed and creamy dijon mustard sauce). Two courses will set you back RMB 88 and the menu is available at both branches of Bottega in Xinyuanli and Nali Patio.
