My friend invited me here the other night and I was a bit skeptical, especially when I actually found the place. Which, by the way, was difficult because it's small, not in an obvious location and the sign looks like a laundromat so I passed by it several times. Anyways, I was skeptical because I've been to plenty of "american" restaurants in Beijing and they all pretty much taste like bland garbage..."suited" to Chinese tastes too it seems. I just got back from a two-month stay in the US so I can say it doesn't compare. But that goes without saying.
Anyways, my friend was raving about this place so I gave it a go.
We ordered the cheese burger, the lasagna, the chicken burrito and the chicken quesadillas.
First off, the portions are large and the prices are very low. Lily is the owner and she is cute and super friendly. She's also incredibly hard-working. She would be at our table chatting and if the phone rang she would sprint over there...even though the restaurant has like four tables.
The environment is very quaint and pleasant. It feels like "your" place. And Lily definitely makes you feel that way.
The hamburger was good. The lasagna was good too but the sauce IMO suffered what many Chinese-Italian sauces suffer...a bit bland and thin. My girlfriend loved the food btw. She is Chinese and usually hates Western food, so that is really saying something. The chicken in the Mexican dishes was really tender and flavorful. I was actually surprised how good they were because I am from Texas and I'm a real stickler for tex-mex.
Also the milkshakes were pretty good.
Anyways, it's my new favorite place. It's only a month old and I'm sure it will improve a lot. I plan on telling Lily some of my suggestions.
Oh yeah and they have 24 hour FREE delivery. And they serve breakfast all day.
