Review of La Pizza

The best pizza of the world is from Napoli, the best pizza of Beijing is from "La Pizza".
If you are one of the pizza purists in Beijing, this place would be your best choice. The equipments and ingredients are import from Napoli, like the dough, San Marzano tomatoes and Mozzarella Cheese from Campania Area. The chefs are Neapolitans. Come here to enjoy the South Italy atmosphere and try the genuine Neapolitan pizza in different sizes, take the 150 Centimeters Long and 35 cm large one if you are a big group!

Ok ok, Pizza is a subjective thing, a personal thing. What one person likes another doesn't.
Me, I am from New York. So, I tend to prefer a NY Style Pizza. (It always makes me wary to see signs saying NY Style Pizza anywhere outside NY, because it is rarely even close)

Mind you even in NY there are two distinctly different kinds of Pizza. Neapolitan, thin crust, not crunchy crackery crap, but soft with a little bit of crispness to it. And then there is Sicilian, a big 4 cm thick, heavy pan pizza which I also adore. I can remember many a day where I was sitting downtown at lunch time and would order one slice of each, great! =P~

Anyway, this is what I was raised on and it's what I like. Someone from California or Chicago or Timbuktu might like something completely different and call what I love crap. So, when I read these reviews about Pizza I pay attention to what people say about service, ambiance, etc. and pay little heed to their opinions of the pizza.
For the others, who may listen to every comment I will say this.
Its a little, hole in the wall pizzeria. It's not fine dining, its a shopping mall restaurant. So, ambiance? Ha Ha. There is an outdoor seating area that might be nice, I have been there twice so far and have not seen it utilized.

The staff, well they are what they are, young girls and a guy living in Beijing earning far less than I am sure they would like to in an expensive city. They are doing their jobs in the usual way and nothing more. Why? because well there is no real tipping here so hey, why should they bother right?

As for the food for those of you paying attention. I thought my salad was great. I tried a bit of my friends spaghetti, it was ok, nothing to write home about. Carpaccio de carne, Very nice. Someone out there might be tempted to turn it back for not being cooked enough...Ha Ha... that was a joke people! Lol

But the pizza? Well let me say this, I spent 6 weeks on a training course in a little town in northern Italy about 2 years back. I ate A LOT of pizza while I was there. Nearly every day. I can say that for me, even though they were not what I grew up on in NY they were some of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in all my 48 years and when I came home I had 7 kilos extra around my middle to prove it. Well, the La Pizza pizzas made in that beauty of a brick oven I had were just like those I had in Italy. Fantastic. My opinion. Subjective as it is.
Of course after my visit, which was a solo one I was excited to return with my son to show him the place I had found. Thought he'd be happy with the great pizza. But he was not impressed so I was disappointed. For me I loved it.
As I said to each his own.

Hey what can you expect from a boy raised here and thinks Papa John's Pizza is the best, gag :&
